Course Description To cover the duty of care placed on employers to provide adequate training for the safe use of hazardous equipment. To give the candidates knowledge to select the correct wheel for the job, the appropriate P.P.E to cut or grind using the tool safely. It covers abrasive wheels, hand held petrol, battery, mains electric and bench mounted grinders.
Course topics (brief) Common causes of accidents with abrasive wheels. Common causes of wheel burst. The markings found on wheels (what they mean). The markings found on equipment (what they mean). Eye protection what is the best type and why is it needed. Hearing protection why is it needed and what style is recommended. Dust masks why are they needed and what is the best style to use. What other PPE is required when using abrasive wheels. What precautions are recommended to prevent fires? What are the dangers of HAV when using abrasive wheels and how is it controlled – Practical assessment selection of wheels tools and equipment putting in to use, the information given in the course.
